Super-sub Rooney fired United to League Cup triumph
Manchester United lifted the League Cup for the fourth time with a 2-1 win at Wembley on Sunday. The Red Devils bounced back from a goal down to edge out Aston Villa thanks to a Michael Owen strike and a fine header from substitute Wayne Rooney.

Wayne Rooney came off the substitutes’ bench to win the Carling Cup for Manchester United yesterday with another brilliant headed goal. Rooney struck in the 74th minute to stun Aston Villa, who were angered that Nemanja Vidic was not sent off early in the first half.
